Character Portraits (digital photographs, 2009)
Playing with the concept of identity, I've invented and play the roles of several characters, employing my bizarre and awkward sense of humor to bring new personas to life. The lines are blurred between fiction and reality - as well as age and gender - and questions are raised about who these people are beneath the surface. Are they somehow related to one another? Body language, gesture, and color compliment the costume/props, and begin to unveil a more complex individual and story. Whether it be their mystique, self-reflection, playfulness or wackiness, an intimate connection is sparked, inviting the viewer to complete the narrative and to fill-in missing information from the depths of their own imagination.
